Summary:
As the UK's national synchrotron science facility at the forefront of world-changing scientific knowledge, Diamond Light Source is ensuring that it is doing everything possible to support researchers in their efforts to discover more about global disease challenges - such as COVID-19. Diamond is a not-for-profit limited company funded as a joint venture by the UK Government as part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) through the Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC), and in partnership with the private charity Wellcome Trust Limited. The synchrotron is free at the point of access through a competitive application process, provided that the results are in the public domain. Over 14,000 researchers from across both academia and industry use Diamond to conduct experiments, assisted by approximately 620 staff.
Diamond is offering priority rapid access for groups who require instrument time for projects directly related to SARS-CoV-2 viral proteins. Based on the number and nature of requests for priority rapid access, Diamond will make every effort to satisfy research priorities.
