The combination of healthcare, teaching and research carried on subsequently at the Ospedale Giustinianeo (opened in 1798), is delivered today through the structures of the National Health Service, directed by medical professors and run by university staff, as is the case with the General Hospital managed by the Padova Healthcare Trust.
