Medicals Africa, is a Nairobi based startup that is innovating high quality and cost effective lubrication products for reproductive and maternal health. This includes SmugelTM, a personal lubricant that addresses vaginal dryness as a result of inadequate lubrication, menopause or as a side effect of drugs or lactation. Under development is UniPronTM that though similar to SmugelTM offers two advantageous properties: 1) as a contraceptive; 2) as a microbicide that can protect women from HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. A third product is SmuscanTM that has been developed as a lubricant for maternal health during ultrasound.
