Disabled, Not Half a Person Non-Profits

Disabled, Not Half a Person was established in April 2016 and works for human rights and in particular to promote the increase of the general disability pension and other rights for people with disabilities in Israel, including accessibility, housing, caregivers, proper medical treatment and integration in society and employment. The founding of the association was a milestone in the social protest to raise the disability pension to the minimum wage level that began in January 2015. In February 2018, after long struggles, the Knesset and the government passed the law to raise the disability pension and encouraging integration of people with disabilities in employment, according to the layout created by the association, on an unprecedented scale of 4.3 billion, and the total budget for the disabled grew, thanks to the protest, by NIS 4.7 billion. The organization's activities to promote the law were based on a wide range of measures such as social networks, lobbying, protests in the field, events and conferences, a petition to the High Court of Justice, media, various campaigns and a long list of additional steps. As a result of the success of the struggle that placed the people with disabilities at the forefront of Israeli society, the organization gained recognition. The association strongly advocates for the rights of the elderly and for enhancing research, development and education for the promotion of healthy longevity and prevention of aging-related diseases.
