Scientific research is the key to the success of our products. The Wound Management and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Divisions of Optima Molliter engineer today the products that will be used tomorrow to treat highly complex foot pathologies. Once the design is chosen and the prototype made, the latter is assessed from the medical and biomechanical point of view aided by Italian and foreign research institutes. Several major publications have dealt with studies on Diabetes-related ulcers, Orthopaedics and Biomechanics. In 2007 the prestigious US magazine Diabetes Care (American Diabetes Association) published the first prospective, SEARCH randomized clinical trial on Optima Diab walker carried out by the Diabetic Foot Department, Clinica Universitaria Pisana. This was followed by multicentre and observational studies, clinical cases and degree theses on our medical devices or the rehabilitation techniques based on them, published in several journals: Wounds International, International Journal of Extremity Wound, Foot and Ankle, Diabetologia e Metabolismo, Biomechanics Diabetic Medicine, Foot Ulcers. At present we work in close collaboration with: Clinica Universitaria Pisana, Diabetic Foot Department, University of Ancona, Department of Biomechanics and Study of Movement, Ancona INRCA Hospital, Diabetic Foot Unit, Clinica Multimedica, Milan, Diabetic Foot Unit, Clinica Villa Maria Cecilia, Cotignola, Diabetic Foot Unit.
